Adwords Tips for PPC Profitability ? Part 1
There are many PPC search engines to choose from both large and small concerning general and specific topics of interest. There are so many search engines some setup purely for shopping related websites others for business, travel, hobby related and practically any other topic of user interest.
However, if you are interested in making money online the Adwords tip of the day is don’t go past Google. Their Adwords program is without doubt the most sophisticated advertising platform obtainable today. Others are also there, but if you can work with Adwords you can work within any platform.
Adwords offers may features and benefits that place them at number one on the search engine list. They have an extremely efficient system that will bring in hordes of highly targeted traffic to your product or service. You can select highly specific keywords, make complex changes to your ad copy and sales presentation, research test and track your campaigns quickly. With the right Adwords tips it is a terrific method to generate huge sums of money and profit online.
Adwords tips used by professional advertisers must be adopted if you want to run a profitable campaign. Some Adwords tips will assist in improving your click through rate, while other Adwords tips will help your ad copy hit the spot. This article can only cover a few simple concepts but for a complete list refer to “The Adwords Navigator Adwords Tips Manual” by Paul Goodwyn.
Following any the of the Adwords tips below becomes an extremely powerful way to locate a highly targeted class of visitor. You want this type of visitor because they are buyers not tire kickers resulting in an increase to your traffic and bottom line profits.
Adwords Tips 1
Always target your campaign to the right market. For example, if you have a fresh bread shop there would not be any point in setting up a general campaign that targets all countries. Your first priority would be to concentrate on your local market, so use geo targeting.
This Adwords tip can be applied in many other ways when setting up your campaign. To start with be aware to target your visitor correctly. You can achieve this at the keyword, adcopy, landing page, subgroup, niche and market level. This Adwords tip is always overlooked not only by beginner and intermediate marketers, but also by so called experts that write on this subject.
Adwords Tips 2
There are so many variables that interact with one another that can affect your bottom line results when using PPC marketing, yet without doubt the most important is your keyword selection. The next Adwords tip is that if you want a profitable campaign never select keywords whimsically. Find very targeted keywords for your product this will bring in good buying traffic.
The best product in the world will not sell if you present it to the wrong type of buyer. For example, if you love Hawaiian shirts and sincerely believe the world would be a better place if everyone wore one, well… fine! But, don’t waste your time trying to sell them to Eskimo’s. Similarly, if you are a butcher don’t waste money trying to convince vegetarians on your local commune to buy a steak. Got the idea!
Your keyword selection is critical and will have a great influence on your success or failure. Highly targeted keywords have the effect of putting your ad copy in front of the right type of person while, at the same time improving the standing of your campaign in the robotic eyes of the search engines.
To take this Adwords tip further, follow the old adage not to put all your eggs in one basket needs to be applied. This is critical and probably the biggest mistake new marketers make. One ad group packed full of keywords will not bring in enough visitors. You may think you have covered all the possibilities but Google Adwords doesn’t work like that.
Adwords will find a few keywords that are suitable for your ad and as their quality score grows the rest of the keywords practically don’t exist anymore and will not perform. So the Adwords tips advice here is to not attempt to have one ad try to do the work for all your keywords. Ads should be designed to reflect the variegated qualities of your product or service.
To keep the length of this article to a reasonable size we will look at more Adwords tips in Part 2. Keep a look-out for “Adwords Tips For PPC Profitability – Part 2” where we will cover some over-looked tips that will generate 00’s of dollars for your pay per click campaigns.

How to Use Google Adwords in 3 Easy Steps (Beginners Tutorial)
Google Adwords is the internet’s most popular PPC (pay-per-click) advertising solution.
Google, the world’s largest search engine, started Adwords in order to give business and website owners an opportunity to purchase advertising on Google’s massive network.
Adwords can advertise your ad in two places: Google Search and Content Network.
It can be used to instantly generate targeted traffic to your website or landing page by bidding on specific keywords or key phrases.
There are a few pre-requisites to starting Google Adwords:
A. Create a new Adwords Account or link it to an existing Google Account.
B. Set Country and Language.
C. Set Payment and Billing Preferences.
D. Start New Campaign and Set Daily Budget
STEP 1: Keyword Research
Keyword Research is absolutely crucial. It helps discover the different keywords or key phrases by which people are currently typing into search engines to find information on a particular topic or solve a specific problem.
Example Keywords: This article is a beginners guide to Google Adwords. A few relevant keywords to this topic could be, adwords tutorial, adwords for beginners, adwords learn, adwords basics, google adwords how to, adwords how to, etc…
Tools Needed – WordTracker.com or KeywordDiscovery.com or Google Adwords Keyword Tool.
STEP 2: Clustering Keywords or Key Phrases into Ad Groups
Think of this step as emptying a bag of candy on the floor and grouping them by color. Group all the reds together, greens together, blues together, so on and so forth.
Keyword clusters as very similar. They must have the same intention and root word. People make typos while searching all the time. These are potential keywords too.
Example Ad Group 1: adwords tutorial, adwords tutorials, adwords tutor, google adwords tutorials, google adwords tutorial, google adwords tutor, gogle adwords tutorial, adwords tutrial, adwords tutoral, etc…
Example Ad Group 2: adwords basics, basics to adwords, google adwords basics, adword basics, adwords bascs, etc…
Tools Needed – Microsoft Excel or any spreadsheet program
STEP 3: Write Ads for each Ad Group
Write two ads for each Ad Group to test and see which has better CTR. (Click-Through-Rate).
Keep the following points in mind when you write an Ad -
Title: Must contain the searchers exact Keyword or Key Phrase
Description Sentence 1: What are you offering or What is the benefit?
Description Sentence 2: Price and Call To Action
Display URL: www.YourWebsite.com
Destination URL: Targetted Landing Page URL. It can be in a sub-directory of Display URL.
Adwords has an intuitive online system that takes you through these steps and saves your progress stage-by-stage.
Once you get used to the online system, you could download a free Google software called Adwords Editor, which can be installed on your PC or Mac.
The Adwords Editor is especially useful to manage multiple accounts, bulk upload ads, keywords, automatically sync with your online account, creating project backups, etc… It basically makes life a lot easier!
Google Adwords also comes with many advanced tools (free) to Optimize Your Ads, Analyze Your Ad Performance and Optimize Your Website.
I hope you find this article useful.
Have a nice day!
Revolutionary Turn-key Business Solution Launched for Establishing Vertical Market Ad Network Business
Revolutionary Turn-key Business Solution Launched for Establishing Vertical Market Ad Network Business
Carson City, NV (PRWEB) February 1, 2011
Poised to take the online advertising market by storm, Vertical Market Ad Network (VMAN), http://www.verticalmarketadnetwork.com , is launching an updated website, offering a new vertical market business solution. This proven solution heralds the imminent release of vertical ad networks in four brand new market niches. Vertical Market Ad Network is pioneering an online digital advertising network business solution that supports companies and individuals in building both a valuable asset and good income streams.
“Businesses need to maintain a market presence and generate sales in a cost efficient manner,” said Andrew Nester, spokesperson for Vertical Market Ad Network. “Even in this down economy there are hundreds of vertical markets that can support an advertising network business. Vertical Market Ad Network provides something unique in internet marketing — highly qualified prospects for distinct market niches.”
Ideal for advertising agencies, publishers and entrepreneurs who want to expand into digital advertising, Vertical Market Ad Network’s new business model provides a turn-key solution, with support and backup.
Two thriving online advertising networks who employ Vertical Market Ad Network’s business model are the Horse Advertising Network and the Noir Woman Ad Network. Each serves a highly targeted niche audience with ads carefully cultivated to their interests.
“Traditional ad networks use just the opposite, outmoded principle – serve ads to as many as possible, hoping at least a few respond,” says Nester. VMAN’s niche market ad network proves this approach is inefficient for those wanting to reach a specific buying audience, wasting both ad dollars and customer’s time. Serving a select group of targeted ads to an interested audience is more effective and a much better use of business resources and customers’ time.
Soon, VMAN will roll out vertical advertising networks in a host of different niche markets. Those markets simply scratch the surface of markets that can be tapped using the VMAN business model.
“VMAN provides our partners with a hassle-free business solution and business support to build a profitable online business without having to reinvent a business model for their market or having to make a large investment to build systems and infrastructure before they could start their marketing efforts,” said Nester. “The VMAN model requires good marketing but less infrastructure and support.”
For more information about the new Vertical Marketing Ad Network, visit http://www.verticalmarketadnetwork.com/. Be sure to check out its free business guide “How to Start a Vertical Market Ad Network Business and Build a Valuable Asset.”

Ebook Review – The Definitive Guide to Google Adwords
Other Information: Comes with multiple free bonuses including a crash course, a quick start guide and a transcript on how to profit with Google Adwords.
ABOUT PERRY MARSHALL (AUTHOR OF THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE TO GOOGLE ADWORDS)
Perry Marshall is a direct marketing expert. Perry is a published author, sells a number of products offering marketing advice and also offers a marketing and publicity service for a number of companies.
ABOUT THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE TO GOOGLE ADWORDS
Before I begin this review I want to let you know my experience with pay per click (PPC) advertising. I had tried PPC once before reading The Definitive Guide to Google Adwords, based on a recommendation in The Rich Jerk’s ebook. However, The Rich Jerk does not cover PPC in a great level of detail and as a result I didn’t really have a clue what I was doing. I simply deposited the money in the PPC account, entered all the keywords related to my website that I could think of from the top of my head, created an advert and ran the campaign. Although, I noticed increased traffic and increased Google Adsense earnings – I was losing money, I wasn’t tracking my PPC traffic and I didn’t know how to improve adverts or keywords. As you can see although I had experience of PPC before reading Perry’s guide, I didn’t know what I was doing and I would definitely consider myself an Adwords beginner.
In Perry’s words, The Definitive Guide to Google Adwords teaches you ‘How to Beat the Learning Curve and Generate Instant Web Traffic with the World’s Fastest Direct Marketing Machine’. In my own opinion, it is an extremely comprehensive guide to Google Adwords (weighing in at over 200 pages) which takes you from getting started with Adwords right through to mastering the Adwords system. The ebook is split into the seven broad chapters; ‘Getting Started’, ‘Managing the Basics’ and ‘Making your Traffic Pay’, ‘Tools, Tips and Tricks’, ‘Your Questions Answered’, ‘Improving your World’ and ‘Further Help and Services.’ But how well does Perry explain the complex Adwords system?
Perry begins with ‘Getting Started’ which is broken down into the following subsections:
- Google Adwords & The Art of War: Thill, Addiction, Obsession Fun!!
- Why Google Adwords is So Important and Why You’re Lost Without It!!
- Building a Campaign from Scratch: A Step-by-Step Example!!
- Anatomy of a Real Life PPC Campaign!!
- Your “Getting Started” Ad Content Checklist!!
- How to Advertise in Local Markets!!
In this pretty self explanatory first chapter Perry explains how to get your first Adwords campaign up and running. By far my the most useful section of this chapter to me was ‘Building a Campaign from Scratch: A Step-by-Step Example’. For the campaigns I have started this has been my blueprint. Screenshots are included every step of the way and I found it really easy to perform all the necessary research (something I didn’t have a clue about beforehand) and then create my first Adwords adverts. When I want to create a campaign I just get this section on screen and then follow it – it really is as simple as that. I also found the ‘Getting Started Ad Content Checklist’ very useful as a summary to the chapter. My main criticism of this chapter is that Perry recommends certain tools & services that cost a fair amount of money – some of which are pretty much essential to running your Adwords campaign. Having purchased this ebook I wasn’t expecting any additional expenditure apart from my Adwords fees so I was a little disappointed with this. However, in general this chapter does a great job and is responsible for improving my understanding of Adwords and getting my first adverts online.
The next chapter is entitled ‘Managing the Basics’ and covers:
- Campaigns, Adgroups & Keywords: How to Break Them All Down!!
- Keyword Status: How Google Rewards You For Relevance!!
- Andrew Goldman’s “Goldilocks Theory of Good Ad Copy”!!
- Expanded Phrase Matching & The Power of Negative Keywords!!
- Turning Solid Traffic from Ultra Generic Keywords!!
- Google Adwords Cheat Sheet!!
This chapter follows on nicely from ‘Getting Started’ and explains how you can improve the efficiency of your Adwords campaigns. Whereas the main aim of the first chapter is simply to get your Adwords campaign running, ‘Managing the Basics’ shows you how to organise your adverts, keywords etc, so that they are more relevant. How Google rewards you for relevancy is explained in greater detail by Perry, but in simple terms more relevant adverts get better Click Through Rates (CTRs), lower keyword costs and better positions, so it’s definitely in your interests to have relevant adverts. Overall, I found this to be another great chapter. Perry includes lots of sample adgroups as examples to help you learn, and shows you how to improve the relevancy for all of them. I’ve applied these principles to my own Adwords campaigns (which have been running for a month at the time of writing) and I’m pretty happy with the conversion rates. I know that there’s still room for improvement but I’m pleased with the results after one month.
The third chapter is ‘Making Your Traffic Pay’ and discusses:
- Converting Your Traffic to Sales: The Most Critical Success Ingredient!!
- Your Most Strategic Number!!
- Perry Marshall’s Web Traffic Conversion Cheat Sheet!!
- The Importance of Tracking Conversions and Sales!!
- Hands On Conversion Tracking: A Real Life Example!!
- Moving Products Like Hotcakes, But Barely Breaking Even!!
- Using Google’s Conversion Tracker!!
- What are Turn-the-Corner Keywords, and Why are They Critical!!
- Value per Visitor and Affiliates!!
- Google’s Stricter Affiliate Policy: Why It’s Good News for You!!
- The Absolute Paramount Importance of Split Testing!!
With this chapter Perry makes a very good point about Adwords – Your traffic is useless unless you can convert it into customers. The most useful part of this chapter for me was the advice on turning content traffic (Google Adsense) on or off for your Adwords campaign as it’s not really something I had considered before. Plus there’s a great tip in there which will help you avoid a bidding war and save quite a lot of money, whilst sacrificing only a little traffic. However, my overall impression of this chapter is that it wasn’t as good as the previous two. Although it is well written, contains plenty of examples and is easy to follow I found that I didn’t learn as much from this chapter. The first two chapters taught me how to set up and manage an Adwords campaign – something I could not do before reading this ebook. With this chapter I already had a general idea of how to write adverts and landing pages that would convert (maybe due to my experience as a seller on eBay), and this chapter affirmed my ideas rather than teaching me any new skills.
Perry then goes on to discuss ‘Tools, Tips & Tricks’. This section covers the following topics:
- Google Image Ads: Taking Advantage of Another Great Medium!!
- Site-Targeted Adsense!!
- Tweaking your Account with Google’s Bells and Whistles!!
- Cool Tips & Tricks for Generating New Keywords!!
- The Power of Capitalisation!!
- How to Test Your Product Idea Before You Develop Your Product!!
- Special Report: Do Less, Earn More & Live Better!!
This part of the ebook contains a lot of additional information about advertising using Adsense adverts on other people’s websites, rather than through the Google search via Adwords. Like with the other sections of the ebook, Perry explains the material well and includes plenty of examples. However, I’ve not experimented with Adsense as an advertising medium yet, so I can’t comment on how effective it is. Perry also uses this chapter to discuss the other tools Google offers Adwords users and offers a few more tips. Again, although this is a good chapter it just wasn’t as useful to me as the first two.
After this Perry goes on to answer readers questions in the chapter ‘Your Questions Answered’:
- What to Do When Keywords Cost – per Click!!
- When You’re Up Against Stiff Competition: A Tidy Summary!!
- FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions!!
This chapter does exactly what it says on the tin – answers customer questions related to Adwords. Obviously, the value of this chapter is unique to the individual and the problems they are having. In his answers Perry conveys a lot of good information, but most of it can be found in other sections of the ebook.
The sixth chapter is ‘Improving Your World’ which includes the following subsections:
- An Unusual Application of Pay Per Click!!
- Shade for the Children: Feeding & Clothing Orphans!!
The above are bullet points are two articles by Perry which make up this chapter. Unlike the rest of this ebook these articles are not really instructional but still a good read nonetheless.
In the final chapter Perry goes onto explains sources of ‘Further Help & Services’ which includes:
- How to Get More Help with Your Campaigns!!
- More Tools & Resources from Perrry Marshall!!
- Epilogue: Restroom Confessions of a Millionaire Marketer!!
The beginning of this chapter contains a list of links for extra services from Perry. Then the epilogue teaches you how to build a list of customers and get backend sales. This was useful information and is a very valid strategy, but it was nothing new to me.
In conclusion, I would definitely recommend Perry Marshal’s The Definitive Guide to Google Adwords to anyone who wants to get a foothold in this market. I’m being completely honest when I say I didn’t have a clue about how to use Adwords properly before reading this guide. At the time of writing I’ve run multiple campaigns – some successful, some not – and achieved average click through rates of 1.5% and conversion rates of 20%. There’s room for improvement for sure but I now know what I’m doing. I can use the Adwords program to generate traffic and I can convert this traffic into newsletter subscribers. It is a big increase in spending compared with what I am used to, but that’s the price you pay for instant traffic. My intention when reading this ebook was to learn how to use Google Adwords to generate valuable website traffic and this ebook gets full marks because that is exactly what it has taught me.
GOOD POINTS
- The detailed step-by-step instructions with screenshots really help. You can implement the information as you read.
- There’s plenty of examples which again are a great help. If something doesn’t click at first, a different example often aids understanding.
- The ebook is really well written and easy to read. Perry provides just the right mix of instructional information, real life stories and examples, which makes the ebook really enjoyable to read.
- It’s great value for money. I’ve paid a similar price for ebooks which are less than fifty pages in length and quite happily done so. However, with over 200 pages in the main ebook plus all the free bonus Perry really has delivered.
BAD POINTS
- There are additional tools and services which you have to pay for. I wasn’t expecting to have to pay more than my Adwords fees.
HOW I HAVE GAINED FROM THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE TO GOOGLE ADWORDS
As I mentioned earlier in the review I’m getting an average click through rate of 1.5% and converting this traffic at around 20% Not only have I gained new subscribers but I’ve also learnt how to use Adwords – a useful skill that I did not have before reading this ebook.

Anaya states “One of the numerous benefits of working for M&I bank of Arizona was that I was able to meet many business owners, however I soon learned that the services that I provided wasnt enough to help them become more profitable. Many of them knew about their particular industry, however most of them did not know how to properly market themselves and target a certain niche.” Anaya continued “I would also get many Hispanic business owners approaching me because many of them only spoke Spanish and did not have a clear understanding on how to start a business in the U.S.” Working for a very conservative bank, he was limited to the knowledge that he could share and started getting requests from some of these clients to assist them with such things as helping them with the basics to get a business started and for Marketing and Advertising assistance. In 2009, he created Anaya Consulting Group to assist people with starting business entities as well as with Marketing and Social Media support.
Christopher Castillo and Alex Anaya both understand the importance of reaching out to the public in order to increase market share, as that is always the goal for all financial institutions. Aeutus Marketing will focus on assisting small and medium size business and currently has a small staff. One of the primary focuses of Aeutus Marketing is being an advocate to assisting Latino owned businesses.
Anaya comes from a family of entrepreneurs who have migrated to the U.S. to live the American dream of running their own enterprises. Christopher Castillo also has a background in assisting Hispanic owned businesses. He helped LEN become nationally recognized, and awarded, by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for the past two years.
Castillo has a long history of helping business owners with business plan creation and with his passion, Marketing. In 2006, he was the United States Congress Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition recipient, in recognition of outstanding and invaluable services to the community. He was also the 2009 Multicultural Entrepreneurial Institute (MEI) Volunteer of the Year Award recipient as well as the Wisconsin 2008 Small Business Administration (SBA) Minority Business Champion, Nominee and Runner-up.
