Helpinng you to maximize your advertising, marketing, SEO and CMS.
Woah I think you just changed my life.
I’d love to use WordPress to make websites and I didn’t know you can actually create your pages locally and then simply use them as a page or home page. All I’ve been doing so far is downloading a template that sorta looks like what I want to do and edit its colors, background images and so on. I wish you didn’t have a mere 10 min limit for this video and I sure hope you want to make a part 2, going more in depth on the topic.
Thanks so much!
@avgeneral89 I always use tables.
… why you say don’t use tables?
decent tutorial. next time, Don’t use tables for your layout.
@mlwebco this is the next step for me Michael – thanks for another great vid on the topic. Would you recommend using WordPress as a CMS over other options? I’m familiar with it already (having been blgging for a while now) but I have a copy of Adobe Contribute that I haven’t dipped into yet.
Part of my brief for the current project is to educate users on social netowrking and blogs…so I’m leaning towards WordPress as a CMS for that reason.
@mlwebco cool, thx!
@cyberjet2001 There are a few blogs that touch on using wp as a CMS. I just tried it out and it seemed to work. If you do a google search for “30 great sites using wordpress as a cms” you’ll find some really nice sites built using wp as a cms.
Man that is so sick! That means I can build my own web page templates in fireworks, send it to Dreamweaver, upload it to my server, and manage the content on wordpress! How did you figure that out? WordPress doesn’t tell you how to do that…
yeah this wraps up a lot of my wordpress questions. Now it might be great to have a video on the different WP content u can pull in with snippets of code.. for example how to put links of a certain category into YOUR sidebar, and any other useful snippets. thanks great vid, really helped a lot
@abeur glad the video helped.
omg thank you so much ive been searching for how to do this for ages , off i go to make a website
Hey Mike,
The tutorial was very informative, but can you show something incorporating flash files as well as flash galleries into the designs that are exported from FW into DW. I have the whole concept down as far as making the page and exporting but I want to combine flash into these designs.
Please let me know
Two birds with one stone here, not only does this teach how to use WordPress as a CMS, but also for those like me that wasn’t sure how to go about making a template for wordpress. I’ve been so busy with stuff I have not had much time to work on the web stuff, but when I get time I gotta try this!
Oh, the color theory class, an assignment this week was creating a color wheel both on the computer and with paint. They wanted me to spend $100 to make a color wheel, LOL uhm, noooo xD
Glad you found it helpful.
You got it!
Thanks Bob, yes, I need to get up to speed on Joomla. One of these days, may have a video for that as well for others who need to learn that as well.
Oh yeah, the sidebar that you see in the example is just one I’ve built. You can override the wordpress side bar and just use your own.
…I know what you mean, their sidebard has a lot of default stuff you really don’t need.
Very helpful! Thanks so much!
One question… Is the side on your mock site here is not the side bar from wordpress right?
I hate that wp side bar.
I love this!
I am gonna try it…
THANKS!
Nice. Personally I use Joomla, but I am considering trying out WordPress… It does seem somewhat more simple, but I have nothing to base that theory on…
Anyways, thanks for the vid, I got a feeling its going to be helpful in the future…
