because this was a risk, and damn good invention! So what ever it was a marketing camping, it was still a good idea. So dont get me wrong…
you dont understand, the difference between normal marketing strategies and the viral marketing strategies of the dark knight is that the dark knight created more than just awareness of the movie it created a fun alternative to everyday life. being a joker fan opens up many doors that normal life does not. I think if more movies used viral marketing then they would create more fan loyalty and create a whole lot more awareness then a billoard.
I don’t see why this movie had to be any different in marketing than the others. Why couldn’t they just put up billboards of the Joker rather than making people follow a fictional game? I feel that the approach of marketing for this film was ridiculous and should not even be legal. If people are willing to listen to a fictional character would they also be willing to listen to a psychopath?
I think the marketing strategies used by the dark knight were absolutely brilliant. Giving fans like myself a whole new world to enjoy is a far more effective strategy then just using simple techniques like trailers and billboards and what not. This movie has touched the hearts of millions of joker fans and I believe that is the ultimate accomplishment
@sipinii
I agree. They would rather drive people crazy trying to do something all because it’s a money maker to get people to go see the movie. But, do you think it was a risk to put money into this project and try to get people to follow along? And why do you think people followed this fictional Joker character giving them instructions?
@shadowprince101
How can you believe this to be an amazing campaign? People are living in a dream world. Don’t you find that a little odd? All of these people are gathering to gain nothing in the real world. I don’t see why anyone would listen to the actions of a fictional character.
I have always tought… Walt Disney always tried to take a new step in entertainment. People were so excited when the first animation movie came out and then computeranimation, and so on. But in present nobody cares nothing but money. So they dont take any risks, they dont want to get moving foward.
This isn’t a false reality. What are you trying to get at with viral marketing? This was a real life event that took place and in no what way had anything to do with promoting the movie…
Its amazing how the world of viral marketing can impact society so much that people would respond to a false reality. Honestly, it’s scary how so many people can get involved and follow what a fictional character can tell people to do to promote the movie.
It truly was, just wish I could’ve got involved like those in America. Here’s hopin the sequel (Pray there will be from Nolan) will use similar methods.
God, i remember the revealing of that image, the first image of The Joker. I couldn’t tell you how great it was in words.
that is truly incredible……i heard iron man 2 is doing a version of it now….whoever came up with that idea is truly a marketing genius…..im speechless!! the dark knight should have went down as biggest movie of all time only for recession. such a shame because it truly deserved it
Dude that is so fuckin awesome!
it proves how much of an impact Joker and that movie had on people before the movie even came out!
