Skreemr is my favorite because it’s fast, you can do advanced searches, and they tell you the size of the file. The other site I use is air mp3 because they usually have more available than skreemr – more artists, and more selection. They are annoyingly slow though, and have tons of ads.

The appropriate thing for me to say is that you should seek the advice of a lawyer .

Unofficially, it’s your call. If you own the track in some form or another (tape decks, vinyl, cds, etc), then I would imagine you are fine. If not… just use the iTunes store. You can DL music from iTunes for less than $1 per track.
